San Francisco..
Wandering 'bout on my own.

Lionel told me I had a choice: We could start off for the train station and sit in traffic for one and a half hours, or we could go to his workplace, say hello to the people there and look around the place. Hmm.. difficult choice that...

So duly when it was time, he packed me back into the van and drove the five minutes (post going-to-work traffic) to the Lawrence Caltrain station. He didn't go off till he'd ascertained that I showed no inclination to bounce up and down on the rail tracks and was on the right side to get to the City. After making sure I had his cellphone number ("Oh, that won't work in the office.") and his direct line ("Not that I'll be at my desk, but leave a message. I'll check my message box.") and telling me he'll make sure to get off work early to pick me up on time, he made sure I was sitting safely and drove off. *sniff* I was all alone...

It was a very comfortable train journey, which was good because it took all of two hours. I got off and looked for the number 30 bus. Well, I couldn't find the bus stop, but there were all these MUNI signs about. I finally corraled a railway employee and he pointed out where the number 30 stop was (oh.. muni..) "See that bus moving away? That's the number 30!" ..okay boss.

Gilles said to stop off at the Park and walk back along along Columbus. Where Columbus and Broadway meets will be City Lights Bookstore. Uh.. which way is back?^^

Why do people name restaurants after pasta, why? I don't really care. It looks like a nice place (and there are some great looking guys sitting at the tables outside).

Yeah, I finally got here. I had actually given up. I stood at the junction of Broadway and Columbus for a loooong time while people walked around me, looking vainly up and down for City Lights. Oh sheesh, I can't find a *big* two-storey bookstore, what will Gilles say? (Mental note: Don't tell Gilles.) Oh well.. I see a lot of books in the windows of that building.. I wonder what it's called..? (Don't ask..) See the mail rack? You can have mail sent to you care of the bookstore. The staff will place it at the rack to await collection, hopefully by the rightful owner *grin*.
