La Voie Lactee

With thanks to dear Mika for sending this early on to me. We met on eBay when she started putting Hermès scarves up as 'miluinu', she is a really sweet person. This scarf is a long (about 196cm x 70cm) rectangular stole, in what seems to be a double chiffon, one side in purple and the other blue. The blue is like a very thin crepe de chine, with the soft and silky feel that makes one want to put it to the cheek. The purple is a very fine georgette with a crisper feel to the hand than the crepe de chine but draping very well. I have tried to separate them into two pieces as I first thought it was like the square double chiffon, but it has resolutely refused. Also the design which is clear on both sides and so seem to be printed on both sides, doesn't have any clashing or super-imposed edges of the planets and stars. I can only conclude that it is an highly unusual weave with the design printed on the purple side (with the HERMES-PARIS print the right way) but coming through well.
